Philadelphia used to be “Comcast Country.” But Verizon is making a dent in that region of Pennsylvania with its FiOS service.
This week, Verizon (VZ) got FiOS going in Chester, Pa., a Philly suburb. The telco is serving more than 3,600 households in that community.
Verizon now offers FiOS Internet and TV to more than 200 communities surrounding Philly. And amid a lot of bickering between Verizon and Comcast, the Philadelphia City Council is debating a franchise agreement that would bring the fiber-optic service to the Pennsylvania’s largest city.
