Been thinking about buying an iPhone, but the cost is still prohibitive in this tough economy? You could be in luck if you’re a little patient.
Apple plans to release a less expensive iPhone sometime in the middle of this year. The move is made possible, in part, by the company’s decision to switch to Qualcomm as its new chip-maker.
The new version of the popular smartphone would be pared down a bit, featuring only phone features and an iPod. It would not include a data plan. No word yet on exactly how much would be knocked off the sales price.
New iPod Shuffles and less expensive Macbooks could also be on the way in 2009.
