Voice 2.0 — the idea of mashing up voice with other IP-based applications — is an idea that keeps gathering steam, thanks to the efforts of companies like Google Inc., BT Ribbit and BroadSoft Inc.. Broadsoft this week clarified the proposition further by announcing five service provider customers for the Xtended platform for mash-ups and application development.

Alteva, SimpleSignal, Telesphere, Unity and WorldxChange Communications are all in development with voice 2.0 applications, Broadsoft said.

Broadsoft recently acquired GENBAND’s application server business and Sylantro’s VoIP platform, and continues to sign up developers for it’s mostly enterprise-focused app environment.
