Looking to provide operators the devices to deliver fat pipes to consumers, NETGEAR Inc. (NTGR) this week announced an upgrade to its home gateway device that supports the bonding of channels whether they are derived from copper or coaxial connections.

Since most broadband bonding gear builds bigger channels for either option, but not both, NETGEAR is in a position to address two large markets – telcos and cablecos – with a single gateway.

And with both industries’ operators looking to make more bandwidth-wise of their current networks in brutal economic times that don’t favor network capital spending, NetGear appears to have delivered a multi-function product for the times.
