Smith Micro Software Inc. will provide the connection manager for Clearwire Corp.’s “Clear” mobile WiMAX service, which brings cable modem-like speeds over the air to mobile devices.
The customized application features a user interface that emphasizes ease-of-use, reliability and simplicity, the company said.
“Increasing wireless data bandwidth speeds, simplicity and usability should all help to drive the country’s adoption of wireless data services,” said William Smith Jr., president and CEO of Smith Micro, in a statement.
Mobile WiMAX is deployed in Baltimore now, with the Portland, Ore. market to be turned up in early 2009.
