As some cable companies and telcos start cracking the whip on bandwidth hogs, hotels and convention centers are struggling just to get enough bandwidth for their guests.
Meeting attendees need a lot more access to streaming video and other online activities than they used to. Some planners even have been forced to move their events because some hotels and conference centers can’t keep up with the clients’ bandwidth requirements.
Many hotels that cater to businesses have had to add more T1 lines, or even a T3 line that is equipped to handle a lot more traffic. Other hotels are going with fiber optics to increase bandwidth capacity.
