OK, it’s now 2009, and most of us would just as soon forget about 2008. But how ‘bout one more look back at the year that was? After all, it was an excellent year for iPhone applications.
Just a week ago, we told you about some of what one site called some of the worst apps of the year, and we asked you to tell us which ones you might actually use. Now comes a list we found of the absolute coolest apps unveiled in ’08, and best of all, many of them are absolutely free.
Among Wired magazine’s picks for the best are an app that identifies songs simply by holding your phone next to a speaker that’s blasting the tune, and another that uses speech-recognition technology to help you get directions.
