Service providers like the telcos looking to up ARPU in these dark days may want to consider adding remote video monitoring and surveillance to their portfolios.

That’s the word from IMS Research, which has come out with a report showing annual worldwide revenue from the residential RVMaS market was around $158 million in 2008 and is expected to multiply three-fold by 2013.

The first says this opportunity is attractive for carriers given most residential customers could install on-site survey cameras with relative ease; these services tie in with existing broadband products, services and concepts – such as residential gateways and home automation etc.; and they offer the potential to generate increased service revenue.
