Sony Ericsson on Friday reported fourth quarter 2008 losses of $247 million on sales of only 24.2 million phones.
The same period a year earlier, the joint venture between Sony Corp. (SNE) and Ericsson (ERIC) sold 30.8 million phones.
Like everyone else, Sony Ericsson is blaming the poor economy for its troubles. It’s also projecting a difficult 2009, especially during the first half.
