In an indication both that President Obama is the first tech president and that he means to make good on his promise of “transparency,” the WhiteHouse.gov already has been updated to make information more accessible via search engine.
A piece posted today on PolicyBeta said the new administration has updated the site’s robots.txt file to enable better information access.
PolicyBeta’s 2007 report “Hiding in Plain Sight” noted that in the past, several federal Web sites used the robots.txt file to hide content from search engines.
