Having ditched DISH Network over the weekend, AT&T Inc. (T) today announced a co-branded satellite service with new partner DIRECTV Group Inc. (DTV) that will be available to millions across the telco’s 22-state region.
The latest satellite video service can be an element in bundles including broadband, home phone and wireless services, according to the carrier, which just last week pushed out its longstanding U-verse landline TV service deadline by one year and cut capital spending.
AT&T notes that the deal with DIRECTV replaces an earlier one with DISH whereby the satellite operators provided the telco’s Homezone TV-driven service. Beyond saying the new offering is available to them, the telco did not detail changes for these customers.
AT&T provided pricing for the DIRECTV video packages. It has ceased selling the Homezone service. Family Choice

AT&T joins Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) and Qwest Communications International Inc. (Q) in reselling DIRECTV TV service.
In the future, by combining AT&T broadband and wireless assets with DIRECTV’s content, AT&T says its DIRECTV customers will be able to access and connect their programming across three screens, yet another longstanding AT&T video pledge.
