COLT, a European provider of business communications, Monday announced it has extended its Ethernet services to the United States. Services are available in New York City, Chicago, Boston and Newark, N.J.

COLT provides data, voice and managed services to major businesses, small and medium enterprises and wholesale customers. COLT operates a 13-country, 25,000km network that includes metropolitan area networks in 34 major European cities with direct fiber connections into 16,000 buildings and 18 COLT data centers. COLT received MEF certification in September 2006.

“We are delighted that we are now able to offer our customers all the benefits of COLT-grade Ethernet in the USA,” said COLT CEO Rakesh Bhasin. “Having listened to our customers, we know that there is a market for the Ethernet solutions and services we offer beyond Europe and we are delighted to have made a start with our geographic expansion to New York, Boston, Newark and Chicago. We look forward to continuing to grow with our customers and working with them to help meet their full potential.”

Alcatel-Lucent worked closely with COLT to extend its Ethernet portfolio to the United States.
