Congress this week delayed the mandatory switch to digital TV, but that doesn’t mean TV stations can’t drop their analog signals this month if they want.
Stations must notify the FCC of their decision by Monday to drop analog signals on Feb. 17. They also are required to air 120 public service announcements in the next week to let viewers know of the change.
The new requirement is contingent on President Obama’s approval, since as of Friday morning, he is yet to sign the bill approving the digital delay to June 12.
