The Anchorage Daily News reported late last week that phone company ACS (ALSK), Alaska’s dominant phone company, is laying off 20 people, which amounts to 2 percent of its work force. Granted, the numbers aren’t as staggering as the ones the industry saw early last week, but they do signal ongoing difficulty in the telecom sector that isn’t limited to the big names.
