Day rates are synonymous with hotel Internet access, Wi-Fi and gyms, and now Verizon Wireless is bringing it to the traditional cellular world.
Two new plans offer Prepaid Unlimited Talk and Prepaid Basic, offer daily or pay-as-you-go fees and no contract, for calls and texting. Meanwhile Verizon’s existing Prepaid Plus users can pay a $1.99 daily access fee for unlimited mobile-to-mobile calling to other Verizon users.
The Unlimited plan is $3.99 per day for unlimited domestic calling and one-cent SMS messages. The Basic plan is a pay-as-you-go option for 25 cents per minute for calls and 20-cent texts.
Verizon hopes the options will appeal to small businesses looking to only pay what they need to for wireless minutes.
