ANT plc, a digital TV software company, announced Tuesday the launch of the ANT Academy, an applications community for connected TV.
The ANT Academy has been created to support the development of digital TV applications and services for the set-top box and iDTV markets based on the ANT Galio Platform. ANT’s software has been deployed by customers throughout the world including Cisco, Chunghwa Telecom, HwaCom, France Telecom, Humax, LG/Nortel, Philips, Sagem, Samsung, SaskTel, Telecom Italia and Thomson.
The initial participants of the ANT Academy include academic members – Georgia Tech Research Institute and Anglia Ruskin University – as well as commercial members, including Accedo Broadband, CloverLeaf Digital LLC, Datmedia, MiCard, Two Way Media, Vizimo and weComm.
“The ANT Academy will support members in reaching mass market with innovative applications and services,” said Richard Baker, executive vice president of sales and marketing at ANT. “We’re supporting the community with a range of tools including the ANT Academy portal, an online resource that provides forums, sample code and technical specifications to help members develop to ANT's standards based platform and to reach a global audience.”
At the same time, Baker said ANT Academy will promote close ongoing commercial and business relationships between members in an effort to advance a new economy for TV commerce.
