Social networking and mobility continue to be the peanut butter and chocolate of the tech world: two great tastes that taste great together. And Bebo, the social networking aggregation portal, is no exception. Today it announced that it’s offering a mobile version of itself is causing page views to skyrocket.
In January, mobile page views grew by 44 percent, and text messaging traffic grew by 13 percent. And in late February Bebo announced the extension of the Bebo Open Mobile program to all major operators in Canada including Fido, Rogers Wireless and Virgin Mobile Canada, and announced that Canadian traffic to the Bebo website grew 43 percent in January as a result.
Bebo Open Mobile is a global program for mobile operators, handset manufacturers and mobile software developers consisting of a suite of tools to support the delivery of the Bebo “experience” to mobile users.
Those tools encompass mobile Internet, mobile messaging and mobile applications. Per the latter, partners can create innovative applications, widgets and other interfaces to directly serve the Bebo community.
