Consolidated Communications (CNSL) announced the availability of its Midwest Network at the COMPTEL PLUS Convention & Expo in Dallas this week. The newly deployed network covers Indianapolis, Pittsburgh and St. Louis. Chicago will be added to the Midwest Network in late 2009.
Consolidated Communications’ Midwest Network also offers access to other markets in Illinois, including Springfield, Ill., and Mattoon, Ill. (Consolidated’s main Illinois tandem for ILEC operations).
Through the company’s acquisition of the former North Pittsburgh Systems Inc., Consolidated Communications also offers connections to Gibsonia, Pa., (Consolidated’s main Pennsylvania tandem) and all ILEC and CLEC locations in the Pittsburgh area.
Services offered through the Midwest Network include SONET, ring-protected circuits for DS1 to OC48s, carrier Ethernet from 100mbps to 1gbps and wholesale IP bandwidth up to 500mbps.
The Midwest Network can be accessed at Consolidated’s Carrier PoPs in St. Louis, Indianapolis, Chicago and Pittsburgh.
Consolidated Communications owns and operates three major regional networks. In addition to the Midwest Network, there is the North Texas network, which covers all of Dallas, Fort Worth, Killeen and Waco; and the Texas Regional Network, which provides connections to all major cities in Texas as well as locations in key growth markets and expanding wireless corridors.
