With Circuit City a victim of the imploding economy, former rival Best Buy can now turn its attention to its newest big – and we mean big – rival, Wal-Mart.
COO Brian Dunn, who replaces Brad Anderson as CEO in June, has laid out a strategy to take on the retail megastore. Dunn wants to offer something Wal-Mart can’t. Dunn believes Best Buy can have success with interactive stores. He wants customers to be able to step into the world of virtual video games, including getting their images caught on HD cameras, which will enrich the game-playing experience. He thinks that will be a head-turning alternative to typical aisle-roaming.
