Cox Communications has tapped NDS to implement an enhanced suite of interactive applications, including integrated telephony, e-mail, news, games and more, on its tru2way set-top boxes.
tru2way technology is a common software platform that will enable cable companies, consumer electronics companies, content and technology developers and others to extend interactivity to a TV, set-top box or DVR.
The suite of interactive applications has been developed to complement the new user interface NDS is implementing for Cox that integrates program information for VoD, DVR and linear channels.
NDS and Cox have been working together for more than a year on a variety of technology deployments beginning with the implementation of NDS’ IEX automated set-top box testing solution.
The enhanced applications suite includes integrated telephony services, e-mail, news, sports, weather, games, movie listings, Mosaic video channels, widgets, horoscopes and lottery results, as well as a customer care facility.
