Cedar Point Communications, provider of integrated voice over IP (VoIP) switching technologies for service providers and enterprise telecommunications operators, will be demonstrating the capabilities of its PacketCable 2.0 and SAFARI C3 at Cable Show 2009.
Modeled after the IP Multimedia Subsystem (IMS), PacketCable 2.0 can help cable operators migrate from PacketCable 1X by seamlessly fusing communications and entertainment to meet demands for an integrated digital lifestyle and new social media interactions.
Multiparty, multimodal, multimedia services or 'fused' services blend high definition voice, video and data to create personalized entertainment services. These new emerging services provide a fusion between communications services that allow users to communicate and share content in different ways, regardless of end-user device or access network type.
Cedar Point will also exhibit features of its SAFARI C³ Multimedia Switching System that enable the delivery of fused services, including applications such as voice call control via the television set, that allow n-way conference calls to SIP endpoints to be set up. Cedar Point will also showcase business services and SAFARIPortal that enables the customization and personalization of services by telecommunications providers, SMB customers, and end users.
Cedar Point has shipped more than 4 million SAFARI C³ lines to customers in the Americas, the Caribbean and Europe. SAFARI C³ supports up to 250,000 lines of capacity in less than a cubic yard of space, incorporating all of the components that make up the voice switching infrastructure. It is being deployed for residential and business services by a diverse customer base that includes cable system operators, competitive local exchange carriers (CLECs), wireless operators and universities.
