Vendors are growing more proactive about making environmentally sound equipment for their telecom clients, a Verizon Communications Inc. (VZ) exec said last week at a forum.
That pronouncement came from Chuck Graff, Verizon's director of corporate and network technology in an interview with Telephony. Verizon recently announced its vendors had to cut their products’ energy consumption by 20 percent and the carrier just now is getting enthusiastic feedback from those suppliers.
Much of the push seems to be coming from political efforts to impose energy-saving requirements on companies worldwide.
