Versa Technology announced Thursday the release of its gigabit Ethernet PON product line supporting up to one gigabit to the subscriber over passive optical network or CATV overlay.
Versa Technology's GEPON platform for the single home and MDU market is comprised of the CO-side concentrator, the VX-EP3120, and customer-side ONT. The VX-EP3120 concentrates traffic from a maximum of 20 PONs and 16 or 32 ONTs that provide up to four 10/100MB Ethernet ports that connect to any gigabit Ethernet switch or router. The system can run up to 20km at the maximum speed up to 1.25gbps.
The CO-side concentrator provides more than 100mbps bandwidth per subscriber necessary for multichannel high-resolution video delivery as well as high-speed data and toll-quality voice. The fully mounted platform is capable of RF video along with high-definition video over IP.
The lineup includes both indoor and outdoor OLTs. This allows providers the ability to provide both single home or MDU environments with FTTH.
The GEPON chassis supports 802.1q Tag VLAN, Mac Address Limitation per Bridgeport, IEEE802.1p, 802.1ad link aggregation and IP multicasting.
The chassis is designed for modular architecture with 2-PON per slot enabling expansion to 20-PON. This rack mountable chassis can take 640 FTTH subscribers and be stacked and managed across thousands of subscribers.
An open Web-based management system provides easily the capabilities necessary for operation administration, maintenance and provisioning. It supports link monitoring, loopback and fault indication with SNMP.
