Thomson (TMS), services developer for content creators, has secured key certifications for its cable modems and VoIP gateways.
The Europe-based company said Monday it has received the DOCSIS 3.0 and EuroDOCSIS 3.0 seals of approval.
The development is important because DOCSIS is an all-IP approach – 151mbps downstream throughput, 200mbps in Europe, up from 38mbps and 50mbps in DOCSIS 2.0, respectively – that allows interoperability with 4G and other high-bandwidth technologies. The theory is that service providers can do cross-access network deployments and high-end services roaming.
