BTI Systems Inc. announced Wednesday that the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF) has certified the BTI 700 Ethernet Access portfolio under its Carrier Ethernet Certification program.
The BTI 700 Series provides demarcation, extension and aggregation functionality for Ethernet and IP services. It was tested by Iometrix, the officially endorsed test lab of the MEF, in accordance with its MEF-approved test plans for Ethernet Services at the UNI for MEF 9 and Traffic Management for MEF 14 certification.
The MEF is a global industry alliance comprising more than 145 organizations including telecom service providers, cable operators, MSOs, network equipment, test vendors, labs and software manufacturers, semiconductors vendors and testing organizations. Its purpose is to promote the deployment of Carrier Ethernet and accelerate the worldwide adoption of Carrier-class Ethernet networks and services. The MEF’s certification program provides independent validation of equipment interoperability and ensures standardized approaches to service delivery.
“BTI joins a growing number of equipment manufacturers and service providers who have had their equipment or services certified to MEF 9 and MEF 14 standards compliance,” said MEF COO Kevin Vachon. “The MEF anticipates a significant increase in certification over the next two years as organizations of all sizes seek to reduce their CAPEX and OPEX costs by taking advantage of the reliability, scalability and simplified deployment and management features offered by Carrier Ethernet.”
