Comcast has extended its dominance in DOCSIS 3.0 technology deployment with its launch in Pittsburgh. The cable giant also is servicing new areas in Ohio, Maryland and West Virginia.

Comcast says customers will see their current Internet speeds double, without costing them an extra cent. If that’s still not fast enough, the company is adding two new, even faster options for those who don’t want to wait one extra second for a page to load.

After reaching its goal of rolling out DOCSIS 3.0 to 20 percent of its customers by the end of 2008, Comcast now wants to reach 65 percent by the end of this year.
