Intel Corp. (INTC) is facing a huge slap on the wrist from the European Union for antitrust violations.
Intel won’t comment on reports that the EU will impose a $1.36 billion fine later this week. Some media outlets say the fine could go as high as $4 billion.
In a case that’s been ongoing since 2000, Intel is accused of illegally pressuring computer makers to use its chips, rather than those of rival Advanced Micro Devices (AMD). Heads of the European Union are set to decide the matter on May 13.
