Nortel Networks Corp. (NT) employees got a note from the big cheese today after the company announced its rather depressing first-quarter earnings.
Mike Zafirovski, president and CEO of Nortel, on Monday tried to assuage worker’s doubts about the future of the bankrupt telecom equipment maker. But he did admit he doesn’t have all the answers.

Zafirovski is a controversial figure at Nortel. Many workers fault him for having little telecom experience or apparent business sense. They also are pointing fingers at Nortel’s board for not heeding the signs of impending financial doom and taking action to avert it.
