Verizon Wireless has signed up to deploy Ericsson's universal base station, and will become one of the first carriers to do so.
The software-upgradeable RBS 6000 base station, first announced at Mobile World Congress last year, supports GSM, GPRS/EDGE, Wideband CDMA and LTE to support multi-standard strategies.
