Allot Communications Ltd. announced Tuesday the launch of Allot MediaSwift, a solution designed to intelligently accelerate the delivery of Internet content (HTTP streamed video and peer-to-peer traffic) to broadband subscribers. The company also announced MediaSwift has been deployed by an unnamed Tier 1 operator in Asia.

MediaSwift pairs Allot's deep packet inspection (DPI) and caching technologies to create a unified intelligent media caching solution designed to improve quality of experience (QoE).

"Internet video is the fastest growing application on the web and is already responsible for over 30 percent of global internet bandwidth. The challenge this presents to service providers worldwide is how to prevent network congestion, assure the subscriber's internet experience, and improve ARPU," said Andrei Elefant, vice president of marketing and product management at Allot Communications. "MediaSwift enables service providers to meet this challenge with a precision tool that provides a win for both providers and subscribers alike."

MediaSwift is offered as an internal blade or as an external solution with DPI-based Allot Service Gateway. It is also offered as a solution with other Allot platforms.

MediaSwift has been deployed at a Tier 1 operator in Asia, in conjunction with both Allot Service Gateway and Allot NetEnforcer. Allot reported savings to date of 40 percent in backhaul and international traffic at the installed sites, as well as a enhanced subscriber experience for Internet video and peer-to-peer traffic.
