Vodafone UK says there’s nothing official in the works for it to buy rival T-Mobile UK.
Media reports this week quoted John Bond, Vodafone UK’s chairman, as saying he didn’t believe a sale of T-Mobile was underway. Word started circulating in May that T-Mobile UK parent Deutsche Telekom was facing pressure from investors and the German government to offload the struggling subsidiary.
If Bond’s contention is true, it mirrors that of O2 UK’s CEO, who recently said he didn’t know of a formal sale process.
