The labor contract covering thousands of AT&T Inc. (T) landline workers expires Saturday and there’s little indication an agreement will be reached by then.
The approximately 32,000 Communications Workers of America (CWA) in the Southeast could go on strike if the deadline passes with no deal. According to news reports, however, a work stoppage appears unlikely. AT&T says it’s prepared for the possibility, however.
Union workers still want AT&T to pull back on its proposed changes to job security, pension benefits, health care contributions and pay raises.
