Imagine being able to use your iPhone to snap a shot of a check, then upload it to a bank to make a virtual deposit. ATM? What’s an ATM?
That functionality is exactly what USAA, the San Antonio-based insurance and financial services company for veterans and their families, is launching this week.
Just take a picture of both sides of a check, and the Deposit@Mobile iPhone app will do the rest.
The app is a continuation of an ongoing strategy to make it easier for USAA customers, because the bank has one location: San Antonio. Despite being an home and auto insurance powerhouse for military families, as a bank, USAA ranks only No. 20.
And so, customers have been able to avoid mailing in checks since 2007, when USAA rolled out the ability to scan checks into home computers for deposit.
