It must have been hot in August, because a lot of people apparently were staying in watching YouTube videos. Google Inc.'s online video site got a whopping 10 billion video views (that’s roughly 40 percent of all online viewing), according to stat firm comScore Inc.
Meanwhile, Hulu.com accounted for just 488 million views, or 1.9%. percent of online video watching. Microsoft Corp.’s sites came in second with 547 million viewers, or 2.2 percent of the market, and Viacom Inc. sites (MTV, VH1) garnered a 2.1 percent share.
In all, people watched 25 billion videos in August, setting a record high. Google got 121.4 million unique viewers, watching an average of 82.8 videos. In fact, the average online visitor overall watched 9.7 hours of video during the month; the average length of the videos was 3.7 minutes.
