Mobile DTV receivers should hit store shelves next year now that a committee has approved a technical standard for transmitting digital TV signals to mobile devices, including cell phones.
The Advanced Television Systems Committee (ATSC) announced Friday that it has approved the Mobile DTV Standard. Broadcasters, electronics manufacturers and transmission vendors have been eager to see a standard approved, which began in a development stage more than two years ago.
