What’s all the fuss “aboot” the iPhone in Canada? Well, for one, TELUS and Bell Canada Enterprises will start selling it in November, effectively ending Rogers Communications’ exclusivity for the device. And two, both CDMA carriers have rushed to deploy HSPA much earlier than planned in order to make that happen.

BCE and TELUS both said this week that their planned GSM networks, which will overlay their existing CDMA networks, will be ready to roll in November instead of 2010 as previously announced. The two are rolling out HSPA upgrades in order to pave the transition to LTE later on (and to compete with GSM-based Rogers for international GSM-based roaming traffic). An added bonus is the ability to offer the iPhone.

Neither TELUS nor BCE have released pricing plans, but TELUS has set up a Web page for its customers.
