iPhone bandwidth hogs could be bringing about a new mobile broadband trend – AT&T Wireless is hinting that they need to cut back their usage or pay more for service.
AT&T has been under pressure to upgrade its network as its popular smartphone gobbles bandwidth.
But now AT&T is saying it’ll give iPhone users “incentive” to cut back on their data consumption. In other words, according to The Associated Press, tiered data pricing based on use is pretty much inevitable.
AT&T Wireless CEO Ralph De La Vega was speaking on Wednesday at the UBS Media Conference in Manhattan, one of the cities where the carrier’s coverage is particularly poor.
