To meet increasing bandwidth demands on its core network, Fidelity Communications, an independent operating company based in Missouri, has selected the hiT7300 metro DWDM solution from Nokia Siemens Networks.

Fidelity Communications is among the first IOCs to deploy the hiT7300 multiservice, multi-haul DWDM solution, which it will use to upgrade its optical backbone to support 10gbps traffic. The hiT7300 network capacity can be extended to 80x40G as needed in the future.

Presently, Fidelity offers wireline telephony, long-distance services, high-speed access via DSL and cable modems, and IPTV services to residential and business customers. The IOC will use the Nokia Siemens Networks platform to accommodate Internet subscriber growth, demand for higher-speed Internet packages and more high-definition content.

“We chose Nokia Siemens Networks’ solution for upgrading our optical backbone to 10G to ensure that we have the right platform to support us for the long term, so that we can rapidly expand bandwidth in our core network,” said Mike Davis, senior vice president at Fidelity Communications. “We’re confident we have the flexibility to quickly add the new routes and Ethernet-based services needed to support our rollout of triple play services.”
