Alteva LLC announced Thursday that it is partnership with Microsoft Corp. and Broadsoft to deliver hosted unified communications that is truly in the cloud.

Alteva has developed a way to interconnect its hosted voice and messaging services developed on the Broadsoft switch with Microsoft Communication Services product suite, including Microsoft Exchange, SharePoint and Office Communications Server (OCS).

“Other companies claim to offer UC, but in actuality they are only referring to basic VoIP features such as voice mail messages as a .wav file in your e-mail. True UC is much more than that,” said Louis Hayner, Alteva’s chief sales officer. “Alteva’s UC product with the full suite of Microsoft Communication Services products integrated with voice over IP phone service, allows for a truly cloud-based UC environment where basic business-based technology like voice is combined with office communications such as instant messenger, video conferencing, desktop sharing, telepresence, etc.”

As an example, Hayner explained that by integrating its hosted VoIP services with Microsoft Exchange, it can offer voice-enabled Outlook calendars and e-mail.

By maintaining call control within the Broadsoft switch and not relinquishing it for “Communicator to Communicator,” e.g. PC-to-PC calls, Hayner said Alteva is able to deliver quality of service, 911 routing, call detail records, etc., that create an enterprise-class managed phone service.

Alteva has launched a Web store where organizations with less than 25 users can select the UC solution to suit their needs. Alteva has designed four different UC packages from which small businesses can choose, including its UC Complete bundle, which is priced from $38 per user, per month; Alteva Collaboration & Voice Communications, which is priced from $25 per user, per month; Alteva Desktop and Expanded Collaboration, which is priced from $28 per user, per month; and Alteva Desktop Communications Basic, which is priced from $15 per user, per month. Alteva also offers a la carte purchasing options.

Customers with 25 users and above should contact an Alteva representative for customized pricing.

Microsoft will support Alteva and the new product offering by including Alteva in a special promotion that directs prospects to the Alteva Web store.
