AT&T: What Kind of Tree Would You Be?

AT&T wants you to switch to paperless billing, and if you do, it’s a double-win for the environment. Not only are you saving a tree, so to speak, you’re planting one too.

AT&T, in a promotion with The Arbor Day Foundation and Sundance Channel, is planting trees in honor of the first 140,000 existing or new U-verse TV customers who select or make the change to paperless billing before April 30. Imagine — there you are, in your favorite national forest, and you see a baby tree with your name on it. OK, your name won’t actually be on it, but you get the picture. (Carving names into the new bark would probably defeat the purpose anyway, don’t you think?)

Going green is one of AT&T’s companywide initiatives. It rolled out a plan last month to plant 1 million trees in 2010 — to represent U-verse, wireless and wireline customers who opt for paperless billing. So if you’re a U-verse TV customer and sign up by April 30, you can actually get two trees planted in your honor.

Anyone who signs up during the promotion will get an e-mail notifying them that their tree has been planted.
