Global Crossing Ltd. has tapped Veraz Networks Inc. to interconnect its networks in several Latin American countries and centralize operational aspects such as billing and element management.

Veraz, which specializes in network application, control and bandwidth optimization products, is providing Global Crossing with its ControlSwitch platform, which enables a distributed architecture so Global Crossing can place the call processing elements of the switch in each of its operating countries, while consolidating the back-office view. Simplifying the management of its Latin American network should in theory provide customers with improved response times, and consequently, facilitate a better overall customer experience.

The open interfaces of the ControlSwitch enable Global Crossing to integrate its installed base of media gateways and legacy third-party applications into the ControlSwitch, ensuring service continuity to the company’s existing customers and improving its ability to introduce new products and services in a seamless manner.

“This deployment with Global Crossing underscores the value of the ControlSwitch in multi-vendor, multi-national networks," said Carlos Linares, vice president of sales, CALA, Veraz.
