Huawei Technologies Co., Ltd. and ZTE Corp., two global telecommunications equipment makers based in China, are at war in the courtroom.

Shenzhen-based Huawei on Thursday filed lawsuits in Germany, France and Hungary against ZTE for patent and trade mark infringement.

ZTE responded by filing a suit today against Huawei for patent infringement in connection with fourth-generation Long Term Evolution (LTE) wireless technologies in China. ZTE, which also is based in Shenzhen, further promised to take legal actions globally in order to protect its intellectual property rights.

“ZTE respects the intellectual property rights of other companies, but it will not stop protecting its own intellectual property rights," the company stated in a press release.

In a statement, Huawei Chief Legal Officer Dr. Song Liuping said his company aims to “resolve this dispute through negotiation so that our technology is used in a lawful manner."
