IBM on Tuesday announced a new offering that the company said is designed to speed the delivery of Web and cloud applications.
IBM said the solution is part of a multi-phase initiative that integrates its technology with Akamai Technologies’ application delivery network.
IBM has introduced IBM WebSphere Application Accelerator for Public Networks, an offering the company said reduces the time it takes for information to move from the data center to users on the public Internet. The solution also helps protect and secure applications through a network of tens of thousands of servers that can be used to support unexpected bursts in traffic or protect against malicious attacks, IBM added.
The solution is available in the United States, Australia, Brazil, Canada, New Zealand and Singapore.
IBM said it will roll out the solution in other countries over the course of the year.
Big Blue also revealed plans to introduce a solution that it said will create a hybrid network between private enterprise networks and the public Internet.
“Clients seeking to increase the speed and reliability of their interactions with public cloud and software as a service applications will benefit from this offering," IBM stated.
The company did not specify a date for rolling out the solution dubbed IBM WebSphere Application Accelerator for Hybrid Networks.
