Cablevision Systems Corp. on Monday introduced a new “triple play" bundle of television, Internet and voice offerings that include new features such as the ability to display PC images and sounds on TVs instantly.

Bethpage, N.Y.-based Cablevision announced that the “Ultimate Triple Play" reflects an enhanced version of an offering that was introduced in 2004, the Optimum Triple Play.

The new package includes about 275 channels of digital cable TV, high-speed Internet service with download speeds of up to 50 megabits per second, and voice service, including 18 calling features.

CableVision said new customers also receive an advanced wireless router and (802.11n) and “Optimum Link," which allows subscribers to display PC images and sounds on their TVs instantly without additional equipment.

For several years, cable television providers have been bundling television, Internet and voice services in an effort to retain customers, increase revenues and ward off satellite TV operators and telecommunications providers that have entered the television market.

In its annual report, Cablevision stated that it faces “intense competition in the New York metropolitan service area" from AT&T and Verizon Communications.
