Juniper Networks, the telecommunications equipment supplier, on Monday announced that Comcast is using its routing and switching solution to support Comcast’s recently introduced Metro Ethernet service targeted for midsized businesses with between 20 and 500 employees.
Comcast last month introduced Metro Ethernet services in more than 20 major U.S. markets ranging from Atlanta to Boston to Seattle.
To support the services, Comcast deployed Juniper’s T Series Core Routers, MX Series Universal Edge Routers and EX Series Ethernet Switches.
“As part of our MEF-certified, multi-vendor infrastructure for Metro Ethernet services, Juniper Networks is helping us deliver a reliable and cost-effective metro data service for our mid-sized customers …," said Kevin O’Toole, senior vice president of product management and strategy, Comcast Business Services.
Meantime, Comcast also has deployed the Cisco Aggregation Services Router 9000 Series (ASR 9000) and Ciena's Carrier Ethernet Service Delivery platforms as part of its next-generation network that is delivering advanced business services in more than 20 major U.S. markets.
