Mobile advertising is a rapidly growing business, something Trevor Healy hopes to capitalize on as Amobee’s new CEO.Amobee's Trevor Healy

Amobee appointed Healy, former chief innovation officer and board member of Telefónica Europe, as its leader Thursday. He will remain a member of Amobee’s board of directors and will continue to work in an advisory capacity with Telefónica worldwide.

With the mass proliferation of smartphones and other devices, Gartner predicts mobile advertising will be a $3.3 billion business in 2011, so Healy has his work cut out for him. Previously CEO of Jajah, he grew the Silicon Valley startup into a global, multimillion-dollar communications company, which was acquired by Telefónica Europe. Prior to Jajah, Trevor held executive roles at PayPal, VeriSign, CelNX and Trintech.

Company founder Zohar Levkovitz will remain with Amobee as vice chairman.

"When I told my friends that I was thinking about joining [a•mo•bee], they thought I was a crazy to leave the board of one of the largest companies in the world," said Healy. “But when I told them the customer base and revenue growth – they smiled. Over the years I have come across some amazing companies with growth and marquee customers, but [a•mo•bee] is in a league of its own. This could be my best move yet."
