Online social media magazine Flipboard is poised to become one of the next entrants into the increasingly crazy Web video market.
Flipboard, who counts actor Ashton Kutcher among its investors, offers readers a mix of aggregated Internet articles with popular social media sites to create a personalized site for its users. Now the company wants to sign agreements with big Hollywood studios so it can offer movies and TV shows, Reuters reported.
Flipboard is just the latest in a line of websites and companies considering such a move into video territory where Netflix and Hulu are best known. Flipboard CEO Mike McCue told Reuters he has approached some studios and his company will look more seriously into video possibilities at the end of the year. The company also wants to sell e-books on its site, but still needs to develop deals with publishers.
For now, you can only access Flipboard on the iPad, but you should soon be able to get it on your iPhone and iPod Touch.
