The waiting game for the next-generation of Apple’s iPhone might soon be coming to an end.
Up until now, speculation has been focused on September and October as the months that fans of the device have been waiting for. If a new report turns out to be true, there will be something exciting in both months. Apple will take pre-orders for the next-gen iPhone sometime in the last week of September, likely on the Sept. 29 or 30, sources tell Apple-loving site 9to5Mac. That will be followed by regular sales on October 7, the site says.
There’s a good chance we’ll hear news about two iPhones next month. Many analysts are predicting that Apple will offer a less-expensive version of the iPhone 4 that could be embraced in emerging markets; it’s also something North American consumers who don’t need a full-blown, pricier, cutting-edge, brand-spankin’-new iPhone 5 might flock to.
While Apple’s been mum on what to expect from the new device, rumors have mentioned everything from LTE capability to an NFC chip for mobile payments … just name something the iPhone 4 doesn’t have, and there’s been some speculation about it.
