Espial’s IPTV software is hard at work in Alaska.

The Ottawa-based company is helping KPU Telecommunications deliver premium, on-demand services to its IPTV subscribers in Ketchican, Alaska. KPU is using Espial MediBase and Nokia Siemens Networks’ IPTV middleware. KPU says it picked Espial for its track record with dozens of service providers around the world, its integration with NSN IPTV middleware and MediaBase’s cost-to-performance ratio.

“We went to market to select a VOD system and were impressed with the performance, reliability and capabilities of Espial MediaBase," said Van Abbott, telecommunications division manager, KPU Telecommunications. “With Espial MediaBase, we’ve been able to bring network-based DVR and VOD services to our customers more quickly than we planned."

KPU offers its customers HDTV, video on demand, broadband Internet, local phone service, business communications and more. Its FTTH network can deliver 1GBps.
