IPTV/OTT solutions provider Amino Communications will embed Vidiactive’s www.videobee.com service into its Freedom Media Centre. This will add a social video-sharing aspect to the platform.

VideoBee offers a single, centralized platform where users can watch and share Web videos across multiple screens and devices from one centralized location. They can then manage them into playlists, which can be accessed and watched on any device at any time. Users of the Freedom Media Centre will now be able to watch Web videos found on any device – such as a smartphone, tablet, laptop – on their TV screen as a full-screen experience, using a simple remote control.

VideoBee’s “PlaySpot" function also allows users to continue to watch a video from a paused point on a different device, in a different room or on a different screen.

“Videobee is truly “social" media – allowing users to bring together their favorite content from a variety of sources, create playlists and share with friends and family. This innovative functionality aligns perfectly with our vision for the Freedom platform of enabling our customers to deliver the very best entertainment experience. By effectively transforming any Web video page into a TV viewing experience also plays very well to the nscreen experience that the industry is moving towards."

Amino’s Freedom media centres are available as a fully-featured hybrid/OTT device or as a “companion" media centre designed to complement existing cable and satellite set-top boxes. Both are powered by the Intel Atom processor CE4100 and MeeGo for the TV and have been designed to support common Internet formats such as Adobe Flash together with high definition 1080p capability.

IBC 2011 (Sept. 8-13) attendees will get a demonstration of the Videobee service running on Amino’s Freedom Jump OTT Companion Media Centre.
